120/365: The Prestige on Flickr.
This idea quite literally fell on top of my head…pun intended. I was a magician for Halloween and my top hat has been sitting on a shelf in my closet abandoned for quite some time.
It was so hard to keep my balance on this thing. The remote in my hand is my…wand (?) I make photo magic. :)
I’m not exactly sure why I save my extensive editing for the days when I have the most stuff to get done…

Day 1 of my 365 project.
Musical Inspiration: Rich- Yeah Yeah Yeah’s
This May, I started my 365 self-portrait challenge, so my blog and Flickr photostream will be loaded with…well me for the next year. In all of the three years that I’ve been shooting, I’ve probably attempted a self-portrait two or three times. I know what I’m doing behind the camera, but in front of it? This is new to me. I didn’t choose to do self-portraits because I’m in love with the way I look. I did it because it’s turning out to be a truly unique experience for me. It’s allowing me to put myself in my subjects shoes. I feel like it will be easier for people to open up to me in front of the camera, having been there myself for so long. Seeing yourself from so many different points of view is a little strange, but very eye-opening. I know I’ve just started, but I’m already learning so much about the art of photography and even myself.
I’ve tried keeping journals before, but usually I become bored or busy and give up writing. This time I know it will be different. I love writing, but photography is a whole different story. Looking back and seeing your entire year through pictures is not an accomplishment a lot of people can claim to have finished.
Sometimes life gets in the way of fun, but I made a promise to myself to finish this project. I fully intend to see this out to the end- bad moods or good moods, rain or shine, time or no time.
Wish me luck!
