PAIGE NELSON

My name is Paige.

I'm an aspiring photographer with an insatiable curiosity and an appetite for the fantastic.

This blog is dedicated to my greatest passion- photography. All of the photos on here are mine unless otherwise stated.

Sorry to bombard you all today with so many uploads. I hope I haven’t been too annoying.
I haven’t attempted anything conceptual for awhile…mostly because I’m fresh out of ideas. This is part of the magic mini series I started a couple months ago.
I parked a little farther from the park than I intended to…I got a lot of stares as I walked past park goers with my equipment, magician attire and bag of props. I got even more stares as I walked back to my car completely covered in flour…

168/365: Champagne Supernova on Flickr.Via Flickr:Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky
Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams, she never dies
Oasis
Time crunch…more flowers for you.

I love this bougainvillea bush in my driveway. It’s kind of messy though…

164/365: Blue Ridge Mountains on Flickr.Via Flickr:
I went hiking the other day on Cowles Mountain, the highest point in San Diego. Everyone down below saw clouds while I enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Probably the prettiest one I’ve seen all summer.
It was well worth the 40 minute climb to the top…not to mention the bumps and bruises accumulated getting there. I ate it pretty hard trying to get around a little kid after which his father told him “this is not a race.” Obviously this guy knows nothing about photography. RACING LIGHT DUDE.
I will probably be posting some more pictures of the hike on my Facebook page. :)

149/365: Someday You Will Be Loved on Flickr.Via Flickr:You’ll be loved you’ll be loved
Like you never have known
The memories of me
Will seem more like bad dreams
Just a series of blurs
Like I never occurred
Someday you will be loved
Last one of the night. Glorious sleep here I come.

138/365: Spectrum on Flickr.Via Flickr:When we first came here
We were cold and we were clear
With no colors in our skin
We were light and paper thin
And when we first came here
we were cold and we were clear
With no colors in our skin
‘Til we let the spectrum in
Say my name
And every color illuminates
We are shining
And we will never be afraid again
Florence and the Machine
Cheez. You should view large.

132/365: Tiger Mountain Peasant Song on Flickr.Via Flickr:To banner fair
To follow you softly
In the cold mountain air
Through the forest
Down to your grave
Where the birds wait
And the tall grasses wave
They do not
know you anymore
Fleet Foxes
I am FINALLY caught up! :)
Feeling restless…a lot of things are about to change for me. Photography is my escape from reality, however brief that may be. For that I am forever grateful.
I got a little carried away and accidentally flung my remote into the grass. I spent a good 20 minutes looking for it…

120/365: The Prestige on Flickr.
Via Flickr: This idea quite literally fell on top of my head…pun intended. I was a magician for Halloween and my top hat has been sitting on a shelf in my closet abandoned for quite some time. It was so hard to keep my balance on this thing. The remote in my hand is my…wand (?) I make photo magic. :)

I’m not exactly sure why I save my extensive editing for the days when I have the most stuff to get done…

119/365: Ishtar Gate on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Week two of my “Art through the Ages” collaboration with Glenda. Her photo should be up soon!
Next on the timeline is Mesopotamian art. The Ishtar Gate was the eighth gate to the inner city of Babylon constructed in 575 B.C.
Inspired by the blues and golds…and the lions of course. I was thinking about how to incorporate them and then I remembered I have a mane of my own.
Somewhat awkward shooting this since I live in such an urban area…this brick wall is the backside of a restaurant facing a parking lot. Getting pretty comfortable doing odd things with strangers watching. I’m pretty satisfied with how this turned out. :)

118/365: Comfort Me on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Feist is such an inspiration to me.
“When you comfort me
It doesn’t bring me comfort actually
When you comfort me
True life in haiku
And balances of phrase
Out of the blue
And meaning shown to you
Where does sadness see?
The mirror has a mirror in his teeth
That’s what sadness sees
Big sky, tiny bird
And when the paragraph betrays the word
Big sky, tiny bird”

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what no inspiration looks like. One of the more frustrating shoots I’ve had in awhile…I hate shooting at this time of day but I didn’t really have a choice.
Can I just ditch all of my responsibilities and run away with my camera? Thanks.

114/365: Caught a Long Wind on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Breathe in…breath out…just let it all go.
Little bird have you got a key?
Unlock the lock inside of me
Where will you go?
Keep yourself afloat
Feeling old until the wings unfolded
Caught me a long wind
Where will we go?
Keep ourselves afloat

104/365: Shake it Out on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Today while I was running Florence and the Machine came up on shuffle (and inspired this photo).
I saw the band perform live in December and I can say with confidence that Florence is the most graceful, beautiful and exuberant person I have ever come across. It was almost like she floated across the stage…and that voice is one of a kind.
I went into the thrift store near my house and bought this sheer cape. I love the way it picks up in the wind. :)
Another attempted expansion. The sky is real!

102/365: Cast No Shadow on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Chained to all the places that he never wished to stay
Bound with all the weight of all the words he tried to say
As he faced the sun he cast no shadow
I love Oasis.
So…when I don’t have any ideas all I need to do is play with my hair. This should get me through the next 262 days, right? I haven’t cut my hair for an entire year. Let’s see how long it gets by the end of this!
Not quite sure how I feel about this yet. Pointless unless viewed larger.

Sorry I cheated. This is the photo I’m using to make up for yesterday.
It was my friend’s last day here before moving back home across the country. Goodbyes aren’t fun…wasn’t really in the mood to take a picture.
This field by my house is blooming again. Everything is green and beautiful. I’ll probably be back tomorrow.
