224/365: The Storm on Flickr.
We were supposed to spend this day in Cabo, but the weather was too nasty. We spent another day at sea and docked in Puerto Vallarta the next day.
I took a quick shower and rushed out of my room just in time to catch the best sunset of the trip. Those dark, menacing clouds were only the beginning of the storm. There was lighting while I was shooting. The wind kept blowing my shirt up…I’m sure the people eating dinner behind the windows enjoyed the show. -_-
220/365: Where the Streets Have No Name on Flickr.
I want to run
I want to hide
I want to tear down the walls
That hold me inside
I want to reach out
And touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
I want to feel sunlight on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear
Without a trace
I want to take shelter from the poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Sorry I’ve been so busy packing for my trip tomorrow. I’ll have one more photo uploaded by the end of the night and then it’s bon voyage until next Sunday!
I’ve decided to pack my cheap tripod so I can at least attempt to keep up. Excited to explore the cruise ship!
I drove around my neighborhood and spontaneously pulled over on this street..it was strangely peaceful. I’m having a lot of fun experimenting with editing lately.
217/365: I Love the Flower Girl on Flickr.
Is that a…smile?
Flowers, golden hour and hair. Am I becoming too predictable?
This is my first expansion with the MKII…and with vertical pictures. I finally have a sturdy enough tripod for that. :)
Got some new props to play with!
Remember Me as a Time of Day on Flickr.
Just an extra from today.
205/365: Little Bird on Flickr.
She’s like a little bird
She flies from a to b
To see what she can see
She’s far away from me
We danced on the moon
We danced by the sea
That land of blue gold
Is where we were free
Where we were free
Where we were free
Had to dodge some golfballs for this. I love how the grass lights up during the golden hour.
I really liked how the photos turned out today…I might upload another one just because I want to edit them. View large. :)
202/365: Neon on Flickr.
When sky blue gets dark enough
To see the colors of the city lights
A trail of ruby red and diamond white
Hits her like a sunrise
She comes and goes and comes and goes
Like no one can
- John Mayer
I didn’t feel like rushing to catch the light today and I’ve been dying to test the MKII at night. This one was taken at the top of the convention center downtown. 1000 ISO and NO NOISE! This is a foreign concept to me.
198/365: Draining on Flickr.
This is a lot different from what I usually post…trying to experiment with color.
I didn’t have a lot of time to shoot since Andrew and I planned a date night. Best sushi I have ever eaten and Batman premiere after. So good go see it. :)
185/365: Maybe I’m Amazed on Flickr.
Today was an overall good day. :)
This shoot was so frustrating. The remote wasn’t working and the light faded quickly. Miraculously, the days when I’m about to give up are the ones when I can actually produce something decent.
No time to shoot for myself yesterday since I was at a wedding. I won’t be posting anything here, but you can check my Facebook page in a few days if you’re interested.
Tomorrow: My first article for the paper is running front page, my last day of work and MY MARK II WILL BE HERE.
I’m not excited or anything…
184/365: California’s Burning on Flickr.
I should re-title this project to “365 ways to flip your hair.” I’m trying to do more pictures with my eyes in them.
Almost got a ticket for parking in the park after 7…we got a warning instead. Security guard is crazy…I think he might have recognized me from last time.
My friends mom is getting married today! I’m going to get some pictures. Gotta go! Have a nice day everyone. :)
Psst view large (on Flickr).
183/365: Lights & Music on Flickr.
I meant to upload this on the fourth of July, but this whole week has been hectic for me.
I’m sure all you Americans heard about the firework fail that happened in the San Diego Bay…if you blinked you missed it…over in 15 seconds.
I called out of work (oops!) and caught another show in the area. I enjoyed my front row seat while eating some bbq salmon, corn on the cob and mashed potatoes. Mmmm.
Andrew and I stuck around after everyone left the parking lot so I could shoot this. I cracked 30 glow sticks and made my own fireworks. Not exactly how I wanted it to look but oh well. I can’t wait until my Mark gets here so I can reshoot stuff like this…I get grain if I shoot above 640 ISO on the D80. Not the business.
182/365: Flower on Flickr.
This has been sitting open on Photoshop for a couple days now…not really sure about it. I was on a time crunch before work (2 more days!)
178/365: Pyro on Flickr.
Single book of matches,Gonna burn what’s standing in the way,
Roaring down the mountain, Now they’re calling on the fire brigade.
Named after my all time favorite Kings of Leon song. I’m listening to it right now.
I BOUGHT MY 5D MARK II TODAY.
I can’t believe I’m finally going to hold my dream camera in my hands. Making the switch to Canon after shooting Nikon for 5 years is a little scary but I’m so so so excited. Someone pinch me. :)
174/365: Everything’s Not Lost on Flickr.
If you ever feel neglected,
If you think all is lost,
I’ll be counting up my demons, yeah,
Hoping everything’s not lost.
When you thought that it was over,
You could feel it all around,
Everybody’s out to get you,
Don’t you let it drag you down.
Cos if you ever feel neglected,
If you think that all is lost,
I’ll be counting up my demons, yeah.
Hoping everything’s not lost
5 minutes to shoot today..trying hard not to fall behind so thought I would try something simple. A friend of mine pointed out to me that most of my pictures feature me with my eyes closed or faceless. I usually try to avoid straight on portraits…mostly because I have such a hard time capturing the right expression in my eyes. And still a little camera shy if you can believe it.
I put in my two weeks tonight.
172/365: First Breath After a Coma on Flickr.
Explosions in the Sky.
I had a really good shooting day yesterday and a lot of time today. Sorry to bombard you…I will have another photo up later. :)
170/365: Blinding on Flickr.
Seems that I have been held, in some dreaming state
A tourist in the waking world, never quite awake
No kiss, no gentle word could wake me from this slumber
Until I realize that it was you who held me under
Florence and the Machine
My plans changed when I discovered all of the cool lilly pad plants that used to live here had withered up and died. :/ But the sweet bokeh made up for it.
This is sort of symbolic of where I’m at right now…taking a leap of faith and letting everything fall into place. It’s exhilarating and terrifying.
Quitting my job and buying a new camera. Here goes nothing.
